We are in need of a Newsletter Editor

Step up! Be famous! Get Involved!
Do something for the club that you enjoy so much.

We are in need of a Newsletter Editor. The Newsletter dose not have to be large, it just needs to convey to the club what has happened and is going to happen. Adding photos is a bonus!

From our Prez:

We need a volunteer who is willing to prepare the Club’s monthly Newsletter. The primary purpose of the Newsletter is to keep members up to date on club happenings and activities or anything related to flight (RC or otherwise). The Newsletter is also required in our bylaws as the means to present actions that may need a membership vote and it should be published prior to each club meeting. There are excellent examples on the club website (hsrcc.com) of newsletters that were prepared by our previous Newsletter Editor, Gary Fuller.

Ideally the volunteer would need some experience with word processing software like Microsoft Publisher, Word, or Excel. Any word processing program would be fine, as long it could be converted to a pdf file for distribution by email and posting on the Club website. If need be, a software subscription could be purchased for you.

The Newsletter is not required to be any number of pages but in the past, it has been four pages. There could be times where it is only one page. The content is strictly based on what may be happening now. You would have the freedom to design it how you see fit. You can focus on new members, old members, special planes, drones, helicopters, upcoming events, events the have taken place, new technology, club rules, safety bulletins, field maintenance activities…whatever may be going on during that month. Much of the information for your articles can be provided for you by event coordinators, project coordinators, club officers and even other club members. You can always find someone to take pictures for you if need be. If you have the interest in preparing the Club Newsletter you can get the help you need to put it together.

If you are interested or just want to talk more about it, feel free to give me a call (714-335-4071) or call HSRCC Secretary, Dave Vandenberg (775-737-8453) since he helped Gary Fuller with the Newsletter as needed over the last five years. For that matter talk to Gary himself. He said you can call him too for some insight on the job (775-720-0856).

Thank you ,

George Kohler
HSRCC President
