Fossil Fuel Fun Fly

Fossil Fuel Fun Fly   8/9/25

Here us a little more information on next Saturdays “Fossil Fuel Fun Fly”. The event begins promptly at 9AM Saturday 8-9-25 and will run for about 2 hours.

Dust off your old glow or gas “hangar maidens” and bring them out for a bit of fun at the air park. There will be a Poker Rally Game that will require a little flying skill (very little) skill. The entry fee is $5.00 per hand to build the “pot”. You can play 1 or 2 hands.

The Rules:

Each entrant hand draws two cards from the deck of cards and pins them face up on the pilot board. Now the hard part; you have to make three successful take/off and landings and complete at least one aerobatic maneuver per flight. After each flight you can draw a card from the deck to fill out your poker hand. New cards drawn are pinned face up on the pilots board. When every entrant has completed his 5 card hand, the 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place winners will be announced. The rules are for 5 Card Stud with nothing wild – no Jokers in the decks of cards. If we have more than 10 entrants we will use 2 decks of cards.

Note, when using 2 decks of cards you could run into a hand with 5 of a kind which is acceptable.

1st place gets 50% of the pot

2nd place gets 30% of the pot

3rd place gets 20% of the pot

Aerobatic maneuvers include: loop, aileron roll, split S, Emelman, tail slide, spin, inverted flight, hammer head stall, Cuban eight, Lomcovak.

“Crashing” is not considered to be an aerobatic maneuver for this event. If you do crash or have a malfunction you can use a spare airplane or borrow one to finish your hand.

Come on out and enjoy the competition!

Also, A note from Paul!

HSRCC members,
Just wanted to let you all know that we have new airplanes for sale plus radios and other equipment available at the Fun Fly. While not an “official sale”, I will be there with storage container open for anyone who might want to take a look. So come on out and have some fun and don’t forget your wallet ’cause ya never know if there might be something in that container you just can’t live without!
Paul
