Warbird Fly-In
A warbird fly-in is scheduled for this Saturday, the 11th of October Between 9 and 11 an. Coffee and donuts will be provided.

Fossil Fuel Fun Fly
Fossil Fuel Fun Fly 8/9/25
Here us a little more information on next Saturdays “Fossil Fuel Fun Fly”. The event begins promptly at 9AM Saturday 8-9-25 and will run for about 2 hours.
Dust off your old glow or gas “hangar maidens” and bring them out for a bit of fun at the air park. There will be a Poker Rally Game that will require a little flying skill (very little) skill. The entry fee is $5.00 per hand to build the “pot”. You can play 1 or 2 hands.
The Rules:
Each entrant hand draws two cards from the deck of cards and pins them face up on the pilot board. Now the hard part; you have to make three successful take/off and landings and complete at least one aerobatic maneuver per flight. After each flight you can draw a card from the deck to fill out your poker hand. New cards drawn are pinned face up on the pilots board. When every entrant has completed his 5 card hand, the 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place winners will be announced. The rules are for 5 Card Stud with nothing wild – no Jokers in the decks of cards. If we have more than 10 entrants we will use 2 decks of cards.
Note, when using 2 decks of cards you could run into a hand with 5 of a kind which is acceptable.
1st place gets 50% of the pot
2nd place gets 30% of the pot
3rd place gets 20% of the pot
Aerobatic maneuvers include: loop, aileron roll, split S, Emelman, tail slide, spin, inverted flight, hammer head stall, Cuban eight, Lomcovak.
“Crashing” is not considered to be an aerobatic maneuver for this event. If you do crash or have a malfunction you can use a spare airplane or borrow one to finish your hand.
Come on out and enjoy the competition!

Also, A note from Paul!
400 feet not 700.
My bad!
Even though the FAA says we can fly at 700 feet, we have an agreement from many years ago with the Carson city Airport saying we will only fly up to 400 feet. Maybe now is the time to renegotiate that agreement !?!
700 Feet!

AMA Members,
AMA is excited to announce that we have been granted a National Authorization allowing our members at AMA club sites in Class G airspace to operate above 400 feet above ground level (AGL) for routine, day-to-day activities. Based on your location in Class G airspace, your site will have a new altitude limit of up to 700 feet or 1,200 feet AGL. To determine at what altitude you can fly up to at a flying site, use this guide.
This is an exciting step toward easing restrictions for our members who enjoy this great hobby. As we march forward, AMA will continue to work with Congress and the FAA to further ensure that our members across the country can enjoy the freedom of flight.
Members can view the National Authorization here Please note that operations above 400 feet in Class G airspace are not permitted until the flying site obtains a copy of this authorization, as well as meet the outlined criteria within the Authorization. Club officers should make sure to keep a copy of the authorization on file with the club’s records. Additionally, AMA will be publishing an FAQ guide to address questions and/or concerns that members might have regarding the authorization.

Ron Triano, 1935 – 2025
Obituaries – Ronald Eugene Triano ~ 1935-2025

Ron and his son Dave used to come to the field from their home in South Lake Tahoe. You knew Ron was at the field because he drove his Walmart big rig out to fly! Dave loved to experiment with flying wings and canards. Here are a few pics from 2016.
